Finding the Molar Mass:
Molar mass is the total number of atoms of the element that are compound. One of the easiest yet! All you need are the following:
-Calculator
-Periodic Table; and
-Awesome math skills!
Step by step:
Compute for the molar mass of CH4...
1. Identify the number of atoms present in both elements of the compound
--> C- 1
H-4
2. Find the atomic weight of both elements using the periodic table then multiply it to the no. of atoms. Don't forget to put the unit measure, which is g/mol!
-->C-1 x 12.01 g/mol
H-4 x 1.01 g/mol
3. Add the products then voila! Molar mass is served!
-->12.01 + 4.04= 16.05 g/mole
Note: Periodic Tables may vary in the atomic weights of elements so instead of rounding to the nearest hundreths, one may round it to the nearest tens.
