Definition of Alkenes...

--->organic compounds that contain Carbon atoms and Hydrogen atoms that form one or more double bonds. Alkenes have the general formula of CnH2n in which case the number of carbon atoms is doubled to have the number of hydrogen atoms.

Feautures of Alkenes:

1. The double bond/s in its structure

2. The general formula CnH2n

3. Alkenes' name ends with "-ene"

Types of Alkene structure:

--->the types are similar to that of Alkanes except for the number of bonds it has:

1. Line Structure

2. Condensed/ complete structure

3. Cycloalkene

--one of the most popular is benzene as shown on the right:

The example C2H4 is an alkene for it has the double bond, represented by the double dash. Also, it correctly represents the general formula.
